The operator of a hospital in Camden is eliminating two dozen jobs, bringing to 60 the number of positions cut since October.

The State newspaper reported that KershawHealth says the layoffs are part of its financial improvement plan.

KershawHealth operates the 121-bed hospital in Camden as well as other health services in the county. It had eliminated 36 positions since October through attrition.

KershawHealth president and CEO Donnie Weeks said the hospital faces the greatest threat in its nearly 100-year history. There have been changes in Medicare and Medicaid and a drop in the number of procedures done at the hospital.
