The layoffs at Citicorp Data Systems, to take place May 20, were prompted by the expiration of the company’s lease at its 111 Sylvan Ave. offices, the company said.
Citicorp said 189 of the affected employees at the Englewood Cliffs offices “are being offered transfers to various other locations and chances to work from home, with same benefits, pay and other terms and conditions.”
Citicorp spokeswoman Janis Tarter said, “We reached this decision as part of an ongoing evaluation to find ways to increase the efficiency, service levels and cost effectiveness of our consumer banking operations in response to changing business needs.” Tarter said she believes the 276 represent all the workers in Englewood Cliffs.
