Cuyahoga County restructuring means 25 layoffs

Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald said 25 people will be laid off, according to a news release on Friday. Those employees were notified on Friday.

According to Cuyahoga County press secretary John Kohlstrand, the move is to reduce costs and make county government more efficient. He said that when Ed FitzGerald was elected as the county’s first executive, it was basically a mandate by votes to change the county government.

The cuts are also related to Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s budget proposal, which puts more budget responsibility on local governments.
