ECISD lays out 64 jobs

The Ector County Independent School District plans to make initial cuts of about 64 jobs, administrators told a special board of trustees workshop meeting Tuesday evening.

But more than half of the planned $13.4 million in cuts will come in non-personnel areas, such as forgoing new computer and bus purchases, savings on utilities and fuel and even a $200,000 cut in the athletics budget. The district says non-personnel cuts should save $7.34 million.
