While Isle of Wight School Superintendent Michael W. McPherson’s proposed $57.6 million operating budget for 2012 calls for giving employees a slight pay raise, it may also cut more than 30 positions currently funded with federal stimulus money.

“We’re looking at close to a $2 million shortfall,” said McPherson, adding that positions impacted could include some assistant principals, instructional aides, library assistants and other support personnel. He unveiled the budget during Thursday’s School Board meeting.
