Oce North America Inc., the Trumbull-based servicer of printers and copiers, will lose 135 jobs in Connecticut as a result of consolidations taking place three years after being acquired by a Japanese company.
James Magrone, an Oce spokesman, said the cuts are part of an overall integration plan that has been developed over three years, since Canon Inc. bought the copier and office equipment company.

United States Air Force announced job cuts in Ohio related to plans to retire more than 300 aircraft nationwide. The cuts will affect personnel at the Rickenbacker, Mansfield and Springfield Air National Guard bases.

Peninsula Hospital, hobbled by a partial state-imposed shutdown, has laid off 200 employees.
The hospital, which is struggling to come out of bankruptcy, also agreed to let a trustee appointed by its creditors oversee operations.
State Health Department officials ordered a shutdown of the Far Rockaway hospital’s lab on Feb. 23 after finding expired plasma in the blood bank and other violations.

Activision Blizzard announced that the company was laying off 600 employees globally. The company makes World of Warcraft (WOW) and has seen a drop-off of subscribers recently.
The company announced that ninety percent of the layoffs come from divisions unrelated to game development, meaning that no developers for WOW will be affected by the financial decision.

IBM has laid off more than 800 workers at locations across the U.S. in the past 24 hours, according to company sources and documents obtained by InformationWeek. Many of the cuts appear to target the company’s Global Technology Services outsourcing group.

Consumer products maker Procter & Gamble Inc. is cutting 5,700 jobs, or approximately 10 percent of its workforce, over the next year and a half as part of a cost-cutting plan.
Procter & Gamble says it plans to save $10 billion by the end of the fiscal year ending in June 2016.

The U.S. Postal Service, which predicts an annual loss of $18.2 billion by 2015, plans to eliminate 5.4 percent of its workforce by closing almost half its mail-processing facilities to decrease costs.
The service plans to shut 223 of its 461 mail-processing plants by February 2013. The closings will cut about 35,000 jobs.

Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) said it has cut 335 jobs in Decatur, Illinois.
Out Of the 335 jobs cut in Decatur, where ADM is headquartered, 160 employees accepted an early retirement package, while 175 were laid off.
