Louisville Metro Government is cutting a quarter of its 81 business managers as part of a reorganization that would save more than $1 million but require as many as 20 layoffs.

The remaining 61 business managers will report to Louisville Metro’s Office of Management and Budget in an attempt to institute better financial management of the city’s $490 million operating budget, according to Steve Rowland, the city’s chief financial officer, who supervises that department.
