The company also said up to five employees will be laid off at the company’s office in Wheelersburg in southern Ohio. Palmetto’s parent company said it hopes to reduce the number of workers affected by the cuts by trying to find them other jobs in the company.
The parent company, BlueCross Blue Shield of South Carolina, also plans to buy the company that will take over the claims processing from Palmetto, meaning that some of the Palmetto workers affected by the cuts could find work with the company that BlueCross BlueShield is buying.
