Memphis Mayor Wharton will urge 150-200 city worker layoffs

“It’s going to be in the range of 150 to 200 people,” said finance director Roland McElrath on the potential number of jobs that would be affected. “It could impact all city employees from management on down.”
The layoffs would save the city $7.5 million to $12 million, according to a budget preview presented to the City Council on Tuesday.
