New Britain Cuts 30 Teacher

New Britain school board members voted on a budget that eliminates 30 teachers and 12 other positions.

Despite $11 million in cuts, the board says it was able to lower the actual number layoffs by cutting instructional supplies and saving positions with the help of grants.

The district is now waiting on the teacher’s union to see if it will agree to concessions that could save more jobs.
