Northwest Georgia aluminum plant is laying off 67 employees in Rome

The Rome News-Tribune reports that General Aluminum Manufacturing Co. has notified the Georgia Department of Labor that it intends to lay off the employees.
The letter sent to the state indicates that the layoffs represent the plant’s entire workforce.
The News-Tribune reports that half of the workforce was laid off Thursday, and the remaining employees will be laid off at the end of April.
Cleveland, Ohio-based General Aluminum is an aluminum die casting supplier to the automotive, agricultural, industrial and other industries, according to its web site.
