The parent company of The Tampa Tribune, TBO.com and WFLA News Channel 8 laid off 29 employees Monday in a drive to cut costs amid a still-difficult national advertising environment.

The cuts came from across the Florida Communications Group, including 20 from back-office operations such as the press room, and 9 from the newsroom, which included several from the Tribune’s feature staff.
