The Central Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross will lose two full-time employees at its office soon as part of a major restructuring by the national organization.

The changes are effective Aug. 1 although the laid-off staff have been asked to stay through Sept. 1 to aid in the transition, according to Carrie Carlson-Guest, regional communications officer for the Minneapolis region. The moves are part of an effort by the Red Cross to eliminate a $200 million national operating deficit.
