SCCC to cut 16 jobs

Sixteen full- and part-time positions at Sussex County Community College are slated to be eliminated as the college seeks to save about $400,000 from the 2011-12 school year budget, which begins July 1.

The people in the positions were notified Wednesday afternoon that their jobs would be gone as of July 1 through what is known as a “Rice notice,” a state-mandated procedure to give public employees notification of impending job reductions and the opportunity to ask that those discussions be held in public session.
