Nearly 200 people are left without a ride after layoffs and with no help from the city of Birmingham, they may be stuck for good.
ClasTran cut eight routes and laid off eight people Monday morning from the Birmingham area because of a lack of funding. Back in December, Birmingham promised the system just over $240,000.

Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb said she will have to order more than 140 layoffs as early as next week.
Cobb told Fox 6′s sister station, WSFA in Montgomery that she may also have to order furloughs at some point, and possibly close courts down an extra day.

Alabama’s Department of Agriculture and Industries is the first state agency to announce layoffs due to budget cuts, with 17 employees getting notices Thursday and at least twice that many layoffs planned for next week.
Agriculture Commissioner John McMillan said his department “is in poor financial health,” like most programs of state government, and reducing the department’s 391 employees is necessary.
