KeyCorp eliminating 64 local technology job

KeyCorp is eliminating 64 technology jobs in Greater Cleveland and shifting the work to two other companies: Hewlett-Packard and Cognizant Technology Solutions.

The positions – mostly in software development and support – represent about 7 percent of Key’s 900 technology positions in Cleveland. Key employs 5,455 people locally.

Cleveland will lay off 321 city workers — including 275 full-time employees — as Mayor Frank Jackson attempts to deal with $35.7 million in expected cutbacks in state aid.


Cleveland mayor announces 350-400 layoffs

During a meeting , Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson announced there will be hundreds of layoffs throughout the city.

“It’s gonna be difficult, people are going to be mad,” said Jackson. “But we will cure this state imposed deficit.”


Cleveland: District proposes to cut 835 employees

The Cleveland School District is proposing a wide-ranging number of cuts to meet a budget shortfall. Those proposals include closing 7 schools and laying off 835 school employees including 650 teachers and not replacing 135 employees who leave through attrition. That adds up to nearly one thousand workers.
