The layoffs have begun at Hewlett-Packard’s Palm division.
The company, which announced plans to shutter its webOS hardware business back in August is sacking hundreds of employees as a result.
Sources close to HP say the company plans to lay off as many as 525 employees and that it began carrying out that dreadful duty this week.

Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) plans to cut nearly 100 jobs from a company office in Pennsylvania.
The notice, sent to the state’s Department of Labor and Industry, said the Palo Alto, Calif.-based technology giant planned to cut 92 jobs from an office in Camp Hill, Penn., on May 31. It is unclear whether this is a targeted cut or part of a broader plan.

Hewlett-Packard Co. has notified the state Department of Labor and Industry that it plans to reduce its workforce by 92 employees at its facility on Grandview Ave. in East Pennsboro Twp.
The California based technology company is required through the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act to notify the state of the planned furloughs by letter.
