Roanoke Rapids School District officials warned severe budget cuts will mean the loss of 51 positions across the board for the upcoming school year.
These positions include one instructional support person, 36 teacher assistants, 11 classroom teachers, one clerical support person and two part-time teachers.

Nearly 100 employees with the Wake County Public School System will be out of a job by the end of June.The cuts are just one of the major developments to come out of what became a very intense school board meeting

Sutton was among the six board members who gave the green light for a reduction in force request calling for elimination of 174 positions. Ninety-five of those are filled.

A Youngsville company that makes catheters and related medical devices is permanently closing its manufacturing facility June 30 and laying off more than 100 employees.
Apogee Medical told the N.C. Department of Commerce last week that the closure is due to the transfer of product production to another plant owned by Apogee’s parent company, Hollister Global.
