Orange Co. Mayor Proposes Budget Cuts, 27 Layoffs

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs submitted her first budget as mayor and proposed a $3.2 billion budget, which is 5 percent less than this year’s budget.

The budget suggests eliminating 60 positions, which would mean as many as 27 people could be laid off. The last time Orange County laid off an employee was in 2007.


O.C. expected school job cuts near 1,500

More than 1,000 Orange County teachers, school psychologists, nurses and support staff are being identified by districts as facing potential job losses this summer.

The names, titles and work sites, provided to the Register in response to a public records request, represent most of the 1,495 full-time positions now targeted for trims as districts grapple with yet another year of budget tightening.
