Alere to lay off 106 workers in Orlando

Alere Home Monitoring, which offers medical diagnostic-test services, is moving most of its Orlando operations to its headquarters in Livermore, Calif., resulting in layoffs for 106 local workers as of Aug. 5.

Alere Home Monitoring was formed in 2010 by the merger of Tapestry Medical and Quality Assured Services Inc.

Lockheed plans to cut 90 jobs at Orlando missiles unit

In its first layoffs in a decade, Lockheed Martin Corp.’s Orlando missiles unit said Wednesday it plans to shed 90 jobs in a belt-tightening move that comes amid the Pentagon’s stepped-up pressure on defense contractors to cut costs.
