The Star announces 25 layoffs

The Kansas City Star announced Monday that it was eliminating about two dozen jobs and cutting a smaller number of unfilled positions.

This is the second round of job cuts at The Star this year. In 2010, The Star announced three rounds of job cuts as well as unpaid furloughs for employees.

Mark Zieman, president and publisher of The Star, said the latest cuts represented a small percentage of the company’s workforce.
